The plot of “Perdida” is simple yet complex. Antonia goes missing while on vacation with her boyfriend, Pedro. The police launch an investigation that leads to the discovery of a sex trafficking ring, implicating Pedro. Antonia’s mother desperately tries to uncover the truth about what happened to her daughter but the case seems to be going nowhere until she meets a journalist who wants to expose the corrupt system that’s responsible for so many disappearances in Argentina.
The cast of “Perdida” features some of Argentina’s finest actors. Luisana Lopilato plays Antonia’s mother, an emotional wreck trying to find out what happened to her daughter. Amaia Salamanca portrays lead investigator Inspector Funes who is more concerned with closing cases than finding answers. Rafael Spregelburd plays journalist Manfredi who seeks justice and also desires closure on his past relationship.
Director Alejandro Montiel does an excellent job in creating suspense throughout the entire film. He manages to capture the raw emotions of each character while keeping the audience guessing till the very end.
